Here’s a new one
I am nothing but an image manipulator
Well that’s according to the best photographer in Glasgow…
Pity no one in Glasgow thinks this other than the person himself and his other half.
A wee shame that but hey ho someone has to love you don’t they…

If anything I have always put myself as an image maker not just a photographer. Anyone with a camera in their hand is by default a photographer.
This is a good thing really because it gives us all the ability to see what other people are seeing.
The problem comes when selling your work as fine art. Is it really enough just to be a photographer?
Ansel Adams arguably one of the finest landscape image creators of the 20th century didn’t think so, he firmly believed that you created images you didn’t just take photographs.
The process starts before you press the shutter and finishes once the final dodging and burning is completed in the dark room.
With digital the work flow is exactly the same but we use programs like photoshop to dodge, burn and sponge those same images in the same ways he would have done in the darkroom.
Unfortunately this self proclaimed best photographer in Glasgow does not realise this and all he can ever do is produce photographs not images.
Shame that because he is pretty good at the first part.
But not the best photographer in Glasgow that’s for sure.

Here’s a couple of images you make up your own mind…
My main portfolio can be found here

One of my simple landscapes…

Portencross looking over to Arran
a 119 second exposure

I have shot this one a few times before and will return no doubt to it again.
Third time lucky because the tripod had sunk into the furrows and snow on the previous 2 attempts at getting this shot…. I had left my broken flower pots in the car and it was a bit far to walk back for and the sun would have gone by then…
